Concept design for Riyadh, KSA

Outdoor comfort is hard to come by under the warm, arid sun. This bench, constructed of stainless-steel pipes with cold water flowing through it, acts as a cooling system to provide inviting seating. The bench taps into the existing irrigation system for the watering of urban plants and trees. Cold water is circulated through the pipes, cooling the seat, and back into the system. This sustainable system, together with a shading device ensures all day comfort, either as a large piece of urban furniture with different reclining possibilities, or as a smaller more traditionally sized bench.

Designed to leverage the material’s thermal conductivity, the bench cools its surface with flowing cold water. The cold water circulates through stainless-steel pipes offering evening comfort, while a strategically sized and positioned shading device provides all-day sun protection.
